Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Chennai
Met upon arrival and transfer to the hotel.
Day 2: Chennai – Mahabalipuram (60km – 2 hours)

Morning sightseeing of Chennai including Marina Beach, Fort St. George, Kapaleeshwarar temple and Govt Museum. Also visit a local performing art school and interact with students.
PM: Drive to Mahabalipuram
Day 3: Mahabalipuram - Kanchipuram – Mahabalipuram (65km – 1.5 hour one way)

Excursion to Kanchipuram. Visit Ekambareswarar & Kailasanatha Temple.
Explore the silk weaving centres of Kanchipuram.
Day 4: Mahabalipuram – Pondicherry (95km – 2 hours)

Morning explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Mahabalipuram, including the Shore Temple, Arjuna’s Penance & Five Rathas
PM: Drive to Pondicherry. Late evening go on a food walk of this historic city.
Day 5: Pondicherry

Morning visit of Pondicherry. Explore Aurobindo Ashram as well as explore the French quarter. PM: At leisure to walk on the Promenade beach.
Day 6: Pondicherry – Tanjore (180km – 3.5 hours)

Morning drive to Tanjore. PM visit the Brihadeeswarar Temple (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Also explore the Tanjore Palace and Art Gallery.
Day 7: Tanjore – Chettinadu (95km 2 hours)

Morning visit a traditional Indian Veena maker workshop. Later drive to Chettinadu.

Afternoon explore the region’s famous mansions and taste authentic Chettinad cuisine.
Day 8: Chettinadu – Madurai (100km 2 hours)

Late morning drive to Madurai. Afternoon participate in a “Offering the food to the gods” ceremony specially curated for our group. Late evening, witness the evening ceremony at Meenakshi Temple.
Day 9: Madurai

Morning visit of the iconic Meenakshi temple. Afternoon at leisure to walk around the bazars of this ancient city.
Day 10: Madurai – Periyar (150km – 3.5 hours)
Morning drive to Periyar. Afternoon visit a spice garden.
Day 11: Periyar – Kumarakom (120km – 3.5 hours)

Early morning hike in the wildlife park for 2-3 hours. Later drive to Kumarakom. Rest of the afternoon at leisure.
Day 12: Kumarakom

Day excursion on the lake with a houseboat.
Day 13: Kumarakom – Cochin (55 km – 1.5 hours)

Morning drive to Cochin. PM: Walking tour of the fort area as well as a sunset boat ride in the harbour.
Day 14: Cochin

Morning sightseeing of Cochin including St. Francis Church, Santa Cruz Basilica,
Mattancherry Palace, Paradesi Synagogue.
Afternoon private Kathakali dance performance.
Day 15: Cochin – Colombo

Morning fly to Colombo. Afternoon sightseeing of Colombo.
Day 16: Colombo – Anuradhapura (200km – 4.5 hours)

Depart from Colombo and enjoy a scenic drive to Anuradhapura (approx. 5 hours).
Afternoon visit the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi Tree Shrine, believed to be the oldest documented tree in the world.
Explore nearby archaeological ruins, including ancient stupas like Ruwanwelisaya and Jetavanaramaya.
Day 17: Anuradhapura

Morning visit Mihintale, the cradle of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Highlights include
Aradhana Gala (rock where Mahinda preached Buddhism). We need to climb many steps to visit the site (about 1800 total).
PM: Additional visit of Anuradhapura including Abhayagiri Monastery Complex, Thuparamaya Dagoba and Isurumuniya Vihara, known for its stone carvings.
Day 18: Anuradhapura - Avkana Buddha – Habarna (95km 2 hours)

Drive to Habarana, stopping en route at the Avukana Buddha Statue, a stunning 12-meter-high rock-carved statue.

PM: Enjoy a jeep safari in Minneriya National Park, famous for its large herds of elephants.
Day 19: Habarna

Morning explore the Dambulla Cave Temples, featuring intricate Buddhist murals and statues.

Afternoon, Visit the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its ancient frescoes and breathtaking views.
Day 20: Habarna – Kandy (100km- 3 hours)

Morning drive to Kandy. Afternoon visit the temple of the Tooth relic.
Day 21: Kandy - Nuwara Eliya (100km – 3 hours)
Morning drive to Nuwara Eliya, passing through picturesque tea plantations and scenic hills (approx. 3 hours).
En route, stop at a tea factory for a guided tour and tasting.
Afternoon enjoy a city tour, including Victoria Park and Gregory Lake.
Day 22: Nuwara Eliya

Drive to Horton Plains National Park (approx. 1.5 hours).
Embark on a hike to World’s End, a stunning viewpoint with dramatic cliffs.
Also visit Baker’s Falls along the trail.
Day 23: Nuwara Eliya – Yala (120km – 3.5 hours)
Morning drive to Yala National Park. Embark on a jeep safari in Yala National Park, famous for its leopards, elephants, and birdlife.
Day 24: Yala

Morning and Evening jeep safari in the national park
Day 25: Yala – Galle (150km – 2.5 hours)

Morning drive to Galle. Enroute photograph the stilted fishermen. PM: Sightseeing of the city including Galle Fort.
Day 26: Galle

Day at leisure at this lovely seaside town. It is a great place to walk on your own and for last minute shopping.
Day 27: Galle - Airport - Depart Sri Lanka (115km – 2 hours)
Depart for International airport to catch the outward flight.
