South India Wildlife Intensive

Day 1: Arrive Chennai

We will be met on arrival and transferred to our hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2: Chennai - Mysore - Nagarhole

We have an early start this morning, as we will be transferred to the train station in time to board the train to Mysore. On arrival in Mysore, we will be met and transferred by road to Nagarhole National Park (90 kilometres; 2½ hours drive). 

We will check into the resort for three nights.

Day 3-4: Nagarhole 

We will take the morning and afternoon safaris to the core area of Nagarhole National Park.

Day 5: Nagarhole -  Annamalai

We will drive through the Cardamom Hills to Annamalai National Park this morning (130 kilometres; 4-hour drive). On arrival, we will check into the forest rest house for two nights. A guided walk through the forest is scheduled later in the afternoon.

Day 6: Annamalai National Park

We will go for a trek in the morning to see some of the endangered species of mammals and birds. We will walk around the rest house in the evening to sight more wildlife.

Day 7: Annamalai - Munnar

This morning we will drive to Munnar (140 kilometres; 4-5 hours drive). On arrival we will check into our hotel for two nights. In the afternoon we will trek through the cardamom plantation and mixed forest in search of the endangered wildlife species in this part. 

Day 8: Munnar - Rajamalai National Park - Munnar

We will drive to Rajamalai National Park early this morning to see the Nilgiri Tahr (17 kilometres; 45-minute drive). We will return to the hotel in the afternoon. Rest of the day is free for individual activities.

Day 09: Munnar - Periyar

In the morning, we will drive to Periyar (113 kilometres; 5-hour drive). On arrival we will check into our hotel for two nights. We will go on a boat cruise to view the wildlife on Periyar Lake in the afternoon. 

Day 10: Periyar

We will spend the day trekking in this wildlife park. 

Day 11: Periyar – Backwaters

Morning drive to Backwaters to board our houseboat.  Rest of the day at leisure as our boat meanders through the backwaters.  A lot of water birds will give us company.

Day 12: Backwaters – Cochin

Morning drive to Cochin.  Afternoon sightseeing of the city.

Day 13: Cochin depart

Transfer to the airport to connect with International departure.
