Before Indian independence, the north east India comprised of theprincely states of Manipur and Tripura and the rest of the area was known asAssam under the direct British rule.  Afterindependence, four additional states were carved out, based on linguistic andethnic lines and the area is now fondly called the seven sisters.  In these remote lands live some of the mostcolorful tribal cultures. Separated by deep river valleys, high mountains anddense jungles, these cultures have grown in isolation and have developed theirown unique traditions exclusive to their clan. They differ in their bamboo hut making, tattoos, jewellery, head gear, dress, language and above all in their festivals.  In this tour, we visit some of the mostinteresting tribes of this area and participate in two unique festivals.
